Dr Oukacha Nadia - Obstetrics specialist in Casablanca

Pregnancy follow-up

Pregnancy is a natural event that unfolds normally and without complication for most pregnant women.

The aim of the general

pregnancy is to monitor its progress and improve the comfort and experience of every pregnant woman.

The onset of pregnancy is an intense emotional time for a couple.

This is an opportunity to draw up a birth and pregnancy follow-up plan.

This follow-up consists of various consultations and examinations.

These are designed to detect possible complications, both for the fetus and the mother.

Screening for these conditions enables early, appropriate treatment and monitoring.

Mandatory consultations and examinations

Pregnancy monitoring includes 7 prenatal consultations and a compulsory postnatal consultation.

The 1st consultation must take place before 3 months of pregnancy.

The father-to-be is also offered a medical examination and additional tests, if the examination of the pregnant woman or the existence of a particular family history makes this necessary.

Subsequent consultations take place once a month, from the 4th month until delivery.

The postnatal consultation must take place within 8 weeks of the birth.

Three ultrasound scans are also offered, as well as certain biological tests.

Screening for trisomy 21 is systematically offered.

The aim is to estimate the risk of the child carrying trisomy 21.
